Discover Velo-city and Velo-festival @ Ghent in 2024

In June 2024, the four-day cycling congress Velo-city is coming to Ghent. Learn more about it here.

Velo-what?

The Velo-city congress for professionals

Velo-city is the annual world cycling summit, organised by the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF). Every year the congress takes place in a different city, and in 2024 it's Ghent's turn to host!

The congress attracts more than 1,400 participants from over 60 countries.

"Velo-city is the place where advocates, cities, policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders come together to shape the future of cycling and sustainable urban development.
- European Cyclists' Federation (ECF)

Velo-city started in 1980 in Bremen. Since then, conferences have been held in cities around the world, including Copenhagen, Brussels, Seville, Vancouver, Rio de Janeiro, Vienna, Adelaide, Taipei, Lisbon, Ljubljana, and Leipzig.

The Cycling Embassy of Ghent and the City of Ghent are proud to organise Velo-city 2024 together with ECF.

The Velo-festival for the people of Ghent

Ghent wouldn't be such a wonderful cycling city without the thousands of Ghent residents who cycle through the streets every day.

That's why we celebrate them during the Velo-festival in the weeks before and during the congress. We do this with fun activities at various locations in the city and of course the Bike Parade, a yearly highlight of Velo-city!

We will announce the program in the spring of 2024. Don't want to miss anything? Sign up for the newsletter (in Dutch only).
