The bike taxi is there for less mobile people in Ghent.
The bike taxi focuses on short trips from door to door. Do you have a hairdresser's appointment, are you visiting family or do you just want to get some fresh air, but find it difficult to get around on your own? Our bike taxi will be glad transporting you!
The drivers of the bike taxis are a mix of newcomers and less new Ghentians. They received a proper training to drive the bike taxi.
Book your ride at least 2 working days in advance.
We cycle each day and are reachable from Monday to Friday (9am - 5pm)
We are not reachable in the evening, in the weekend and on holidays.
Cancellations can be made up to 24 hours before your scheduled ride. Cancelling a weekend or Monday ride must be done by telephone on Friday before 5pm (or exceptionally by e-mail during the weekend). If you cancel later, we will be forced to charge you for the ride. Cancelling for urgent reasons is of course always possible.
All less mobile people in Ghent, regardless of age.
Even if you are temporarily less mobile, for example due to a broken leg, you can use the bike taxi.
A rickshaw can carry 2 passengers, with a maximum of 160kg. A folding rollator can also be transported together with 1 person.
A wheelchair bike can carry 1 passenger, sitting in their own wheelchair.

A ride costs 2,5 euros single, 5 euros round trip. For a ride over 5km (only) you pay an extra 1 euro per km. You pay cash to the driver.
A pleasure ride is also possible. This costs 5 eurso for a one-hour ride.
Would you like the bike taxi to wait during your shopping/visit/..? That's possible! The first 15 minutes waiting time is free. From the second 15 minutes onwards, you pay 1 euro per 15 minutes.
When you book 2 trips with less than an hour between arrival and the next departure, we consider this time as waiting time and thus will charge this.
The bike taxis drive 7 days out of 7 between 8am and 10pm.
Please note that we are only available for reservation on weekdays between 9am and 5pm. Booking or cancelling a ride isn't possible in the evening or on weekends.
The bike taxi only drives in the area in the R4 (main ring road) up to Meulestede bridge, see map below.
The bike taxi can be booked for an organisation's activity but reservations must be made in the name of the passengers. This is to avoid non-utilisation of the rickshaw.
Pleasure rides can be booked by organisations if there is space and functional rides are not compromised.
