Vzw De Fietsambassade Gent clears bicycle racks on a regular basis, to perform works or because of the organization of an event. All bicycles that remain in the bicycle racks are then taken away.
How do you know when a bicycle rack will be cleared?
A bicycle clearance (date and hour) is announced at least one week in advance by means of yellow-black signs and an evacuation tape.
Only in case of emergency the racks and bicycles are taken away within 48 hours.
A sticker is also attached to every bicycle, announcing the date of the bicycle clearance.
How to retrieve you bicycle?
Cleared bicycles are deposited in the Bicycle depot.
You can check online whether your bicycle is in the depot. All cleared bicycles are posted with a picture and description on www.gevondenfietsen.be .
You can also come and look for your bicycle at the Bicycle depot itself. Make sure you bring the key to your bicycle lock and tell the people at the depot what your bicycle looks like. That way, the staff of the depot will be able to retrieve your bicycle the quickest.
Is your bicycle registered? Then it’s even easier. The moment it turns up, the Bicycle depot will automatically invite you to come and retrieve your bicycle.
Note: underground bicycle parking Gent Sint-Pieters
Bicycles that are cleared at this underground bicycle parking, are stored by the company Apcoa, which is in charge of the management, commissioned by the NMBS. You can contact Apcoa at 0473 33 89 11.
How long is your bicycle kept at the depot?
Your bicycle will be kept for 3 months. That is the statutory retention period.
